The Carol Burnett Show is one of Televisions greatest show's in history. Lasting 11 successful years starting in 1967 and ending in 1978 not without winning 25 Emmy Awards, 8 Golden Globe Awards and 3 People's Choice Awards.

Carol Burnett and Friends was a syndicated, truncated version of The Carol Burnett Show, showing only the sketches.

The Carol Burnett Show is a sketch comedy television show starring Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence, and Lyle Waggoner. It originally ran on CBS from September 11, 1967 to March 29, 1978 for 278 episodes, and originated from CBS Television City's Studio 33 (also known as the Bob Barker Studio).

The popular variety show made the stars household names with such sketches as "As the Stomach Turns", "Went with the Wind" (a parody of Gone with the Wind featuring a scene with Burnett as Scarlett O'Hara in the dress made from a window curtain, complete with the curtain rod), "Carol & Sis", "Mr. Tudball" and "Mrs. Wiggins", "The Family" (which would later spin off into a show called Mama's Family), "Nora Desmond" (Burnett's send-up of Gloria Swanson's character Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard), and "Stella Toddler." A frequent repeated segment was "Kitchen Commercials", in which cast members parodied TV commercials that drove a woman (Burnett) crazy. It had frequent, high recognition guest stars. The long-running show was frequently nominated for Emmys, and won three times.

Carol Burnett DVD The Litigious Janitor As one of the first variety shows hosted by a woman, the Carol Burnett Show became one of the most popular and famous shows of its time. It is probably one of the best shows that almost never was. CBS tried extremely hard to make sure that the show never made it to air. They did not believe that a variety show hosted by a woman would be able to do well. However a clause in the contract they gave to Carol Burnett forced them to air it for at least one season. That season was enough to prove that the show could be a success. For just over a decade from 1967 to 1978, The Carol Burnett Show was broadcast over the airwaves. It became an iconic show from that decade, and it became famous enough that other shows began to parody it. One lawsuit was made against Fox when it tried to parody one of the characters that Carol Burnett had created for her show. This character, a Janitor, was used by Fox in its show Family Guy. In addition to trying to steal one of her characters, Fox used a modified version of the theme song to The Carol Burnett Show in the background. Although Burnett claims that Fox did ask her for permission to use the song in their episode of Family Guy, she never granted them permission for the song. In this episode, Fox portrays some of its own characters entering a porn shop. As the character get to discussing how dirty a porn shop will be, one character mentions that because Carol Burnett the janitor is working at the store, everything should be spic and span. This janitor later appears in the episode, dressed as a character from The Carol Burnett Show. During this scene, a modified version of the Carol Burnett Theme Song plays in the background. Burnett’s suit was for the usage of her character and for the song that had been created for her show. Since she held the copyright for both of these things, she did not want Fox using them without her permission. Fox did it’s best to fight this lawsuit. Their most convincing argument came when they issued a statement that reminded everyone that Burnett herself had become famous by parodying others. This brought the lawsuit to a quick stop, and the suit was quickly thrown out.
