Grizzly Adams DVD
Grizzly Adams
‘The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams’, the film produced over thirty years ago, was among the top three entertaining movies for those who like adventure and wit combined. The excellent film which was very well rated at the time was turned into a fascinating TV series bearing the same name. The thirty-nine episodes developed around an interesting personality inspired from an actual trapper- James John Capen, nicknamed ‘Grizzly’, Adams.
Dan Haggerty plays the title hero in the series. Grizzly Adams is a woodman unfairly accused of murder. As any innocent man in this situation would do, he chooses to run away and save himself. You probably know he goes straight into the mountains where another kind of life starts for him immediately. The harsh conditions in the mountains put him to test several times and make our hero struggle hard to survive. There is nothing out of the ordinary so far.
While trying to make his way in the wild, Grizzly Adams comes across a grizzly bear cub. The little one has no family and Adams feels pity for him. The orphan gets a name (Ben) and becomes the title hero’s companion. The cub grows up, naturally, but he proves to be a nice companion to the refugee, not a menace as most of us would be inclined to believe. Actually, Adams has a special disposition which helps him get along with the beast perfectly. The bear helps the hero find his way in the woods and there grows an unparalleled communion between the two in the savage new home that Grizzly Adams has found and made his own.
Apart from the ‘relationship’ characterized by deep feelings and mutual understanding between the man and bear, the television series also shows two human companions for our hero. One of them is an old trader – known by the nickname Mad Jack the Mountain Man – and the other one is Nakoma, an American Indian. The three brave men have a good influence upon the environment they live in, managing to stick together and help a good number of visitors to the area. Besides, they succeed in protecting the forest and the local wildlife as well.
Watching old movies and TV series that once enchanted the eyes of many viewers across the world is a popular hobby of this millennium. Some productions are meant to live for ever, due to that special message that they send off the screen, through different deeds of the characters as well as the nice inter-human relationships they promote. In addition, Grizzly Adams and his bear friend put wildlife into a different light and sustain the idea that sometimes beasts can be as good-hearted as (if not more than) humans.
If you feel like remembering the exciting adventures of Grizzly Adams, you can purchase the DVD or the Grizzly Adams Bluray and sit down comfortably in your armchair at home for the old fascinating series of adventures in the wild. Your children will also enjoy being there with you, so don’t forget to invite the whole family to watch a great production.
