Perry Mason is an Emmy-winning American TV series that ran from 1957 to 1966. Perry Mason was played by actor Raymond Burr. The title character is a fictional defense attorney who originally appeared in detective fiction by Erle Stanley Gardner.

There are few actors so closely tied to a persona than Raymond Burr as Perry Mason. This long-running series was built upon Erle Stanley Gardner´s many novels about a brilliant defense lawyer and his staff, that solved many a crime with surprise witnesses and stern cross-examinations.It was the first mystery series to feature chalk or tape outlines to mark the spots where bodies were found. Filmed almost exclusively in the Los Angeles area, Raymond Burr had Gardner's seal of approval in the role. The cases were usually won by way of pivotal confessions of witnesses, solicited by Perry Mason (Burr's) surgeon-like examination or with last-minute, key evidence brought into the courtroom by private investigator, Paul Drake (William Hopper). Della Street (Barbara Hale), Perry´s faithful secretary, was always at Perry's side in the courtroom where hapless Hamilton Burger (William Tallman) was the Los Angeles District Attorney who never seemed to win. As to the myth that Perry Mason never lost, there were 2 episodes where it did occur... but you'll have to watch to find out.The show was revived in 1973-74, with other actors in the familiar roles (Monte Markham as Mason), and then again with the some of the original cast, in a string of feature length TV films from 1985 until Raymond Burr´s death in 1993.

The plot is essentially the same in each episode:the first half of the show would usually depict the prospective murder victim as richly deseriving of homicide often with Perry's client publicly threatening to kill the lowlife; the body is found (often by Perry and Paul who through incredible circumstance just happen to stumble upon the body) surrounded by clues pointing to Perry's hapless client but oddly enough, with no blood or gore on the scene. Mason's client is put on trial for murder, but Mason is able to establish his client's innocence by dramatically demonstrating the guilt of another character.

Perry Mason is a fictional lawyer who has been used in great number of literature pieces created by Erle Stanley Gardner.

This character has been part of more than eighty stories running from short stories to big novels. Most of time story has same line as Mason's client was involved in some murder and he has to prove him innocent. He used to do so by proving some other character guilty of that crime. Mason is also part of Gardner's bestselling book. Initially Mason had been presented on radio in a long series. Afterwards this character appeared in films and on TV and become the most popular and successful lawyer series on TV. This play had been broadcasted from 1957 till 1966 then aired new series from 1973-74. More than twenty five TV films have also been made on this story line. Gardner has created this character on the name of the organization, Perry Mason & Co, which publish his favorite childhood magazine.

When he created his imaginative lawyer he named him after the name of publisher of his childhood magazine. Author has provided some information in early novels but afterwards existence of this character in TV and movies has taken for granted. Gardner present His hero as a attorney who works hard on the behalf of his client .

He was more interested in the cases whish were hopeless and difficult. He used to invest himself for the investigation of the case if necessary. One of his colleagues during the debate says that Mason is a better detective than a lawyer. the judge in the episode Moth-Eaten Mink judge praised the innovative talents of Mason always come up with strange sort of tactics to interrogate his witness and all the new methods were legal as well so he is well able to protect the interest of his client and his own as well. Mason has been shown as a professional who worked on seemingly hopeless cases in the way that his client in the end proves to innocent and original criminal also come to scene automatically.
